ICS Story

We love how the ICS Kindergarten program teaches learning through play and that our daughter finds it an absolute joy to go to school, not a chore. She can’t wait to go back every day!

[My first grade teacher] took me in and dedicated more time in teaching me how to read because I was behind for my age. I want to extend the deepest of thanks to [my former teacher]. She challenged me to reach far within myself so that I could see all of the potential I had when I didn’t value much of myself. She taught me that through Christ these gifts would grow to have an impact that I wouldn’t begin recognize.

Christ has inspired me to reach those born into less fortunate instances with His love that surpasses all understanding. I hope to go into foreign countries to equip others in pursuing excellence in Christ. I admit that the journey in my faith hasn’t been one of ease because I have hit many bumps and turnovers, but I have found nothing worth more than Christ and His kingdom.

I give you this update on my life to reveal the impact [she] made as a teacher and a mentor in my life and in the life of many others through her dedication to Christ. I couldn’t think of anyone who would make as much of an impact as she did because her heart has shown much of Christ to me when I could barely read.

I love Immanuel Christian School because it challenges me to do my best to glorify God. I enjoy the great teachers at ICS. I hope to continue to grow in my faith, education and friendships at ICS. I am glad to be at Immanuel!

Learning verses at Immanuel Christian School reminds me that the Lord is with me and He is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path (Psalm 119:5). Each time I learn a new verse I want to hide it in my heart. At ICS, the teachers help me keep keep God's Word in my heart.

Immanuel Christian School is worth the investment because the learning environment has transformed our son into a student who is absolutely engaged with learning. The school has lit a fire in our son to want to finish assignments with excellence. It is as if his teacher has surfaced in him a desire to learn, probe and question. The transformation exceeds anything we could have hoped for regarding him. We now have a resource rich community of teachers and staff who intentionally partner with us. For the first time, we have a sense of balance, trust and hope that both of our children will be given every opportunity to grow into who they were designed to be. The academic rigor coupled with the warmth of the staff create a place where our children eagerly embrace learning. Our children anchor the excitement of academic learning with the God who made them. ICS ensures that there is no disconnect between the two. They are challenged to see every subject matter as a window into the mind of God. This is thrilling! The school saturates not only their minds but their hearts with a deep concern for others and an intense love for the LORD. That combination catapults their growth and has brought peace and balance to our home. Prior to joining the ICS community, our focus was one dimensional. We fixated only on the mind; fact and knowledge acquisition. The school has gently helped us to see more broadly that true education reaches the whole child---the head, heart, and hands.

Our daughter can’t wait to get to school each morning and we couldn’t be more pleased with the loving, nurturing, Christ-centered environment at ICS.

The rich disciplines of Bible memory and study started for me at ICS, where for 11 years my teachers faithfully repeated to me the inestimable value of that precious book. Their trust in the Bible became a means by which I would learn to likewise trust in the truth of scripture, which is now the bedrock of everything that I am and do in Christ. I'd be lost today without God's Word, so I'm grateful to ICS for giving me that eternal gift.

Both of our children attended ICS from kindergarten through 8th grade. I saw then, as a stay at home mom, how special the school was and how it impacted students. When it was time to go back to teaching, there was no question where I wanted to be. I love this place, and am so blessed to be here.

Not all Christian schools have the resources to help students that have learning challenges, and I am thrilled that ICS offers not only Barton, but Discovery, and Search and Teach as well. I love being able to pray with my students, and to help them realize that while they may struggle in an area, they were uniquely designed by God with special gifts and talents that others don’t have. I love being a cheerleader for my students and seeing their growth as they use the Barton system.

To have [our daughter] at ICS [means] that she is literally surrounded in all aspects of her life - at home, at church, and at school - with positive Christian values. We view ICS as a partner in helping her develop in Christ, to grow academically, and to become the kind and engaged citizen in our community that we want her to be. It is also very important that the quality of the secular aspects of her education be top notch. ICS has the type of educational programming that will prepare my daughter for success. We can think of no better place for our daughter and ultimately, our whole family, to be a part of.

Our kids are growing a thirst for God's Word every day from their teachers and administrators and staff who are thirst for it too. Yes, ICS is academically challenging. ICS is safe and provides a great learning environment. Our kids receive Bible teaching and memorize verses. But there are other schools in this city they can get those things - even the Bible teaching. But at ICS, the Word of God is sinking into the souls of my children. And God is using my children to teach and encourage me. We are so grateful to be a part of this community. In a world turned upside down, we praise God for our school that is committed to the unchanging Word of God that provides the foundation for the integration of faith and learning.
