A place to grow academically, socially, & spiritually
We understand the importance and opportunity of the middle school years. Our students thrive in an encouraging environment that is designed to help them find belonging and community, strengthen their faith, and prepare them academically for what’s next.

A Christ-Centered Middle School Designed for Growth
Challenging Academics Grounded in Faith
At Immanuel Christian School, our middle school program is intentionally designed for one of life’s most formative seasons. We recognize that every student learns differently, so our teachers provide individualized support while maintaining high academic expectations. Students are challenged to think critically, deepen their faith, develop confidence, and build the skills they’ll need to thrive in high school and beyond.

Building Community
Prioritizing friendships rooted in the gospel
Community Time is intentionally embedded into our schedule because we understand the importance for middle schoolers to develop strong, healthy relationships with peers and faculty. These regular gathering times help students connect, build and deepen friendships, and have fun together.
Learning Labs
Growing independent, confident learners
Middle school is a critical time for developing the habits and skills that lead to long-term success. Through Learning Labs, students intentionally build executive functioning skills, including organization, time management, study strategies, goal setting, and self-advocacy, that prepare them for the increasing expectations of high school and beyond. With guidance from caring teachers, students learn to take ownership of their learning while growing in confidence, responsibility, and independence.

Deeper Inquiry
Expanding creativity through greater adventures
Our integrated curriculum is built on learning experiences that deepen critical thinking, broaden foundational knowledge, and pique curiosity. In addition to rich in-class learning, our program features immersive, off-site opportunities that let students see, touch, and engage with ideas in deeper ways. Beginning in seventh grade, students go on overnight trips to the Ark Experience in Kentucky and the Grand Canyon (optional spring break trip).
Accelerated Learning
Challenging academics that grow with students
Middle school courses emphasize critical thinking, research and inquiry, and presentations and collaborative learning. Every academic pathway is designed to meet student needs, build a strong foundation, and provide rich learning experiences that deepen understanding.
Advanced math courses are available beginning in fifth grade, and in seventh grade, high school courses are available for eligible students, with an opportunity to earn high school credit.

Athletics, Fine Arts & Electives
Starting in fifth grade, students can try out for a middle school team, and seventh and eighth grade students are eligible for most varsity sports. Band, orchestra, choir, and other fine arts opportunities round out the middle school curriculum, as do a wide array of electives, such as creative writing, weightlifting, and STEM/coding.
equipping head, heart, & hands
At ICS, students are taught and guided to grow not just academically, but socially and spirituall, as well.
Spiritual Formation
Spiritual formation is at the center of our approach and informs how we structure our schedule and our program. Every day begins with devotions, a time when classroom communities study God’s Word and pray together. Weekly chapels provide a time of worship and reflection as students gather together, and regular small group mentoring opportunities allow students to ask questions in a safe space.
A Focus on Character
Character development and lasting heart change is more important than academic achievement. Student formation and discipleship moments are embedded into our culture, and regular service opportunities are part of our school rhythms.
Learning Through Service
Serving our school, our community, and our world is an integral part of the ICS curriculum. Fifth grade students serve and encourage our local first responders, while grades 6-8 serve as book buddies at local elementary schools.
Ready for What’s Next
Through overnight trips and retreats, a vibrant and encouraging student culture, and challenging academics, middle school students at ICS are taking the steps to grow into the young men and women God uniquely created them to be.
There is no school in the country that offers this kind of academic experience — grounded in Christian values and letting students learn so experientially. We are immensely grateful to be part of the ICS community and how it is shaping our kids’ faith and academics.

How Teens & Pre-Teens Find Their Place at ICS
We believe that every student deserves to feel known from day one. Before school begins, each new student is paired with a classroom ambassador who helps them build friendships and confidently transition into the ICS community.
Teachers show up at games, lead service trips, talk with students after class, and check in when something seems off. It’s the kind of everyday presence that helps develop the whole student, inside and outside of the classroom.
Parents also have the opportunity to stay connected, which creates a level of trust and partnership that strengthens the whole community. The result is a calm, attentive atmosphere where students feel comfortable trying new things, speaking up in class, and building friendships that feel honest and lasting.
Through meaningful relationships, athletics, fine arts, clubs, and service opportunities, students discover a welcoming community where they are known, valued, and inspired to find their place.

Protection and Care Across the Day
ICS takes a comprehensive approach to student safety, combining physical security measures with the kind of emotional support that helps students feel safe, seen, and loved throughout the school day. The K-8 campus has secure building access and controlled entry points. A police officer is present in the parking lot each day, and a dedicated security officer monitors activity inside the building.
At ICS, Technology is a Tool, Not the Focus
ICS takes a limited, careful approach to technology to reduce distraction, deepen friendships, and help our students grow and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Screens are only used when they enhance learning or help students develop essential digital skills. Most assignments and assessments are completed without screens. Personal phones and smart watches are not allowed during the school day.
