Academic Overview

K-12 education as formation — equipping students in head, heart, and hands to know truth, love God, and serve others.

Christian education focused on truth & wonder.

At Immanuel Christian School, teachers pay attention to every quiet question and the spark of curiosity. They notice what makes each student unique and encourage wisdom and strong character.

Each grade level presents new opportunities to learn and grow. Every lesson, every relationship, and every experience contributes to the formation of the whole child.

  • Kindergarten students explore and learn in our outdoor classroom
  • Second graders dig for fossils as part of science lessons
  • Middle school students study science and history through local and national field trips
  • High schoolers engage in debates and discussions that help them see current events through the lens of Scripture

Our academic program is intentionally designed to cultivate wisdom, deepen understanding, and prepare students to live lives of faithful service. Through an intentional curriculum grounded in a biblical worldview, students are formed to think clearly, love rightly, and live purposefully in an ever-changing world.

Values Guided by Truth

Faith:

Believing the Truth

We want our students to know the truth not only with their minds, but to embrace it with their hearts, and live it out in service to others.

Knowledge:

Knowing the Truth

God is the author of all that is true. Students are taught to value knowledge and to know and verify the truth.

Thinking:

Using the Truth

We do not simply teach our students what to think, but how to think. They use the truth in critical thinking and problem-solving.

Communication:

Sharing the Truth

Students develop written, verbal, and visual communication skills that inspire others for lives of meaning and purpose.

Immanuel Christian School values the whole child and helps each student grow into the person God is shaping them to become.

Academic Distinctives That
Bring Learning to Life

At Immanuel Christian School, learning is active and relational. Teachers guide students to think deeply, ask intelligent questions, and apply what they learn through hands-on experiences. Students are encouraged to view knowledge as something lived, not just memorized.

Strengths of our academic program include:

  • Faith integrated into every subject, helping students recognize God’s truth in science, literature, art, and history.
  • Faculty with deep expertise and active faith, who bring real-world insight to the classroom, including a former U.S. ambassador and an experienced engineer.
  • Smaller group learning environments that invite discussion, critical thinking, and shared problem-solving so students learn to listen and lead with humility.
  • Public speaking and communication skills are built from the earliest years, with presentations that begin in lower school and continue through high school discussions, performances, and leadership roles.
LET’S TALK about your child’s journey.

At ICS, academics are not simply about what students know, but who they become.

Inspired Students

Informed & Transformed

Students are formed first in identity—recognizing who God is and who they are as His image bearers. All learning begins with the knowledge of God, shaping a foundation for both understanding and life. We seek to cultivate a deep and abiding faith—one that informs the mind, transforms the heart, and orients the whole person toward the love of God and love of neighbor.

Meaningful Partnership

Formation & Reflection

Learning is inherently relational and formative. Students grow through meaningful engagement with truth, guided by Christ-centered teachers who model wisdom, humility, and faith. At ICS, the pursuit of knowledge is not separated from the formation of character. We intentionally develop habits of reflection, discernment, and thoughtful engagement—integrating head and heart as students mature in wisdom. Teachers serve as instructors, mentors, and models—living examples of a life shaped by the truth of the gospel.

Purposeful Lives

A Life Grounded in Truth

Education culminates in a life that reflects truth in action. Students are prepared to live with wisdom, integrity, and purpose—demonstrating Christ-like character in every sphere of life. Through a coherent, truth-centered academic experience, students are equipped to engage culture with discernment, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and pursue lives marked by service, humility, and joy.

Experiences That Inspire
Purpose & Growth

For our students, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Each experience is designed to help students apply their faith, discover their strengths, and engage the world with wisdom and compassion.

Learning for Life

With ever-expanding technologies, reading, writing, and communicating now take place in many formats with many audiences. Students must learn to interpret messages with wisdom and discernment and develop the skills to communicate clearly and effectively in all formats.

Experiential education through travel and service,

encourages students to explore and learn with head, heart and hands. Beginning with local field trips and community service and culminating in middle school and high school travel around the world, these experiences give our students a broader, global perspective to deepen their understanding and their faith.

Engaged discipleship

modeled by teachers who mentor students in small groups, helping them own their faith and develop life habits that matter — such as grit, humility, courage, service, gratitude, and self-restraint.

Preparing students for a life of faith,

by partnering with families and pursuing intentional spritual formation and mentoring for all ages. Through regular chapels and daily classroom devotions, an integrated biblical worldview, and a discussion-oriented high school Bible class, students learn to speak truth with grace, listen well, and defend their faith thoughtfully.
