Second grade at Immanuel Christian School is built on a hands-on, biblical approach, educating the whole child – head, heart, and hands.
With challenging academics taught through the lens of Scripture, our curriculum includes
- a deep focus on writing, with opportunities for fiction and non-fiction compositions. Students then read their writing aloud to peers and parents.
- expanded mathematics lessons, with an introduction to multiplication and ample enrichment opportunities.
- integrated lessons that span multiple subject areas to reinforce learning and deepen knowledge. Special activities and field trips include: fossil hunt, science center visit, Heritage Festival, butterfly release, Meet the Author student writing read-aloud.
- opportunities to serve our community throughout the year by visiting with residents at neighboring Aarondale Retirement Center. These visits introduce them to the joy of serving and give students important life skills.
- a focus on the gospel message and our response through weekly memory verses. The Bible curriculum provides a firm foundation of New Testament studies, focusing on the public ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
