ALL: Re-Enrollment Is Here

AUTOMATIC RE-ENROLLMENT for the 2020-2021 school year takes place this month and deposits will be collected through FACTS in March. Every family should have received information last week by email. Please contact Lauren Gessner if you have questions or did not receive your re-enrollment email.

ALL: Last Call for Siblings of Current Students APPLY NOW for the next school year!

If you are planning for another one of your children to come to ICS for the 2020-2021 school year, now is the time to apply! Applications are steadily coming in and spaces are limited. ALL: Financial Aid

Applications for tuition assistance are processed online by FACTS.  All required documentation is due by March 15. There is a processing fee of $35 for this service. Please remember that a new online application must be completed each year you request tuition assistance.  Details are available on our website under Tuition and Financial Aid.

Grades 5-8: Just Around the Corner for Middle School – February 27

RSVP today to attend Just Around the Corner – an event designed to share with current and prospective parents about what to expect in their child’s next grade. You will have the opportunity to hear from the school leadership and grade level teachers to learn more specifics about what the coming year will look like for your child. Please join us and invite a friend! Childcare is also available with advanced registration for children under the age of five.

ALL: Pasta Palooza Family Dinner Night Hosted by PSO: Friday, February 28 - SOLD OUT

Bring along your appetite to the Pasta Palooza spaghetti fellowship dinner sponsored by the ICS PSO (Parent Service Organization) on Friday, February 28. This is a great opportunity to spend the evening eating delicious food while visiting with friends. Sign up on ParentSquare to volunteer during the event. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Check in with our hosts in the kindergarten hallway. Dinner is served at 6:15 p.m. and Bingo and prizes start at 7:00 p.m.  Don’t forget to bring your cash to purchase dessert and coffee to support the 8th grade class.

Grades K-8: Immanuel’s Got Talent is coming soon! Student Information Meeting: March 3

It’s time for the 9th Annual ICS Talent Show…Immanuel’s Got Talent! We are excited to see what new talent this year brings! We are looking for a variety of acts from 5th through 8th grade students to be showcased during an all-school assembly on Thursday, April 30th at 1:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. Acts may be individual or group and should be no longer than 4 minutes in length. 5th through 8th grade students interested in auditioning need to attend a mandatory information meeting on Tuesday, March 3 during lunch/recess. Grades 3-7: Visiting Day is Thursday, March 5! Invite a friend to attend ICS for a day!

Do you know of a family who is considering a change to private Christian school? Perhaps they have considered Immanuel but feel they need more information? We are offering a great opportunity to show what ICS is all about. Current 3rd through 7th grade prospective students are encouraged to join us on Thursday, March 5th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to shadow and experience a day in the life of an ICS student! All visitors will be assigned an ICS buddy during their time here, and all will get to enjoy a pizza lunch as well! This event is intended for serious admissions considerations. Grades 5-8 Intent to Participate for Spring Sports( MSG Soccer and MSB Flag Football)

If your student is in the 5th– 8th Grade they can participate in tryouts for our spring sports.
Please fill out the form to let us know if your child plans to try out for either of these teams. The ‘Intent to Participate’ Web Form can be found in ParentSquare. Please have this form completed by March 10, 2020.

Grades 3-8: ICS Basketball Camp: June 15-19

Mark your calendars! ICS will again host its annual ‘funtastic’ basketball camp Monday – Friday June 15-19, 2020. Basketball camp is for students entering 4th– 9th grades. More information to follow soon.

Grades 1-8: Verse Recitation

All students in grades 1-8 will be reciting verses soon.

ALL: 100 Verse Recitation

There is an opportunity at the end of the 4th quarter for students who wish to quote additional verses to total 100 verses for the year. A special Bible, which the student selects, is awarded for this achievement. Your student’s Bible teacher sent home information to the student about the 100 verses recitation. Please note that all additional verses must be printed and submitted to the Bible teacher by April 14.  All students who want to recite 100 verses must complete them by May 5 (retry May 6) for all grades. Please contact your student’s Bible teacher for additional information.

ALL: Lost & Found: Changes Coming

Next week we will be clearing out our Lost & Found bins. This will be the first of our monthly clean outs of Lost & Found. Any unlabeled items will be passed to IBC Hope Ministry. As always, all labeled items will be returned to the owners.

Unfortunately, when lost items are not claimed for weeks or even months at a time, the container starts to overflow and smell. We do not have extra space to store excessive lost items. Once a month we will send a reminder and alert you to the date we will be giving away unclaimed, unlabeled items. Also, Lost & Found things will no longer have a window of time on display in the breezeway but, as always, parents and students have access anytime to search the grade level bins outside classrooms and in the gym.

The best way you can help in this process is to label ALL your child’s items (uniforms, coats, gloves, hats, etc.) We look for a name on every item before we pass it on to Hope Ministries. We appreciate your support in helping all students be responsible for their belongings. Thank you in advance for your efforts to label everything!

ALL: Express Your Appreciation to Mrs. Carnahan & Mrs. Smith As They Retire

Immanuel Christian School is blessed with dedicated, talented, and loving faculty and staff who serve our parents and students. We are sad when we have to say goodbye to those who are retiring. In June we will say farewell to our Executive Assistant, Mrs. Diane Carnahan, and to one of our receptionists, Mrs. Mary Sue Smith. Please take this opportunity to thank Mrs. Carnahan and Mrs. Smith for their many years of faithful service at ICS. You may also upload a picture using the file upload option. ALL: Note from Clinic

This is the season of fevers, sore throats, and upset stomachs. If your child is complaining about any of these symptoms, please be sure to take their temperature before coming to school. Students are not allowed to come to school if they have vomited or had diarrhea within the last 24 hours. They must also stay home if they have had a fever of 100 degrees (or higher) within the last 24 hours. Students may return to school after being fever-free for 24 hours without being on fever-reducing medication (Tylenol or Motrin). Thank you in advance for doing your part in keeping our kids from spreading illness.

ALL: Discovery Therapist Needed for 2020-2021

The Educational Services Department at ICS is currently accepting applications for a part-time NILD Educational Therapist (Discovery). Minimum of a B.A./B.S. is required along with Level I therapy training if not already trained by NILD. The training must be taken this summer. Please send your resume and cover letter to Suzanne Holley (suzanne.holley@icsva.org). Any questions may be directed to Ms. Holley as well.

ALL: Employment Openings at Immanuel Christian School

Every year at this time we look ahead to the end of year when we will say goodbye to various teachers and staff members. This year, we anticipate the majority of our teachers and staff will return. However, we also need to be proactive and start the recruitment process when the majority of highly qualified educational professionals are engaged in the search process. It is also prudent for us to recruit for a wide variety of positions in anticipation of possible openings. Please help spread the word for the following: ICS is now accepting applications for teachers (Kindergarten, Middle School, and High School). All teaching positions are full time and require an education degree and classroom experience. We also have an opening for an Athletic Director (MS & HS, full time) and Elementary Teaching Assistants (part time). Additional openings include full time and part time administrative office support positions, a Recess Supervisor (part time) and an IT Specialist (full time). ALL: Last Call for Box Tops! – Send in by tomorrow February 21

If you have any unexpired Box Tops, please send them to school with your child by tomorrow February 21. This will be our last opportunity to earn cash for our school through the traditional Box Tops program. After February 21, you may still support ICS through the Box Tops for Education program, but you will do so by scanning your receipts through the Box Tops app.

Women’s Spring Conference – March 20-21, 2020 @ Immanuel Bible Church

Early bird registration is open NOW for the IBC Women’s Spring Conference! Cindy Easley and her daughter, Hanna Seymour will speak on Living Transformed in a Broken Culture. They will be teaching from Romans 12 on how to think clearly, love authentically, and engage peacefully with others.
