Just Around the Corner for Elementary School and Middle School – February 13 and February 27
RSVP today to attend Just Around the Corner – an event designed to share with current and prospective parents about what to expect in their child’s next grade. You will have the opportunity to hear from the school leadership and grade level teachers to learn more specifics about what the coming year will look like for your child. Please join us and invite a friend! Childcare is also available with advanced registration for children under the age of five.
- Elementary School Just Around the Corner (Rising Grades K-4): Thursday, February 13, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
- Middle School Just Around the Corner (Rising Grades 5-8): Thursday, February 27, 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
ALL: ICS Spirit Week: February 10 – 14 and Homecoming Basketball Games: Thursday, February 13
We are excited to showcase our Warrior Pride during this year’s Spirit Week! To celebrate ICS Spirit Week, we will have themed dress down days. Classes can even win prizes for creativity and participation! (Dress code rules apply. Students who choose not to participate in the dress down theme will wear their regular uniform.)
- Monday: Sports Team Day – Any jersey will do! High school, college, professional jersey for any team, any sport. If you play a sport, wear your own team’s jersey! Show support for your favorite team! Represent your team, whether it is football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, cricket or rugby! Any jersey for any team will work.
- Tuesday: Disney/Pixar Day – Dress as a favorite character from a Disney or Pixar movie.
- Wednesday: Wild West Day – Break out the flannel, cowboy boots, and Stetsons! Wear your favorite western gear for a wild western day.
- Thursday: School Spirit Day – Wear ICS colors or your favorite ICS gear! Basketball players should wear their jerseys to school over a t-shirt. Plan to come to the Homecoming basketball games after school to cheer on the Warriors!
- Friday: Valentine’s Day – We’ll close out the week with a Valentine’s theme – wear your white, pink, red, and purple to celebrate.
***All week long, the Middle School Student Council will be selling concessions and ICS spirit items during middle school lunches (grades 5 through 8) in the lunchroom. Students can bring cash to purchase these items all week during lunches.
ALL: Homecoming Basketball Games:
Come cheer on the ICS Basketball teams after school on Thursday, February 13. The Middle School Boys’ game is first at 3:45 p.m., followed by the Middle School Girls’ game at 5:00 p.m., and we close out the night with the JV Boys’ game at 6:15 p.m. We will have games and giveaways during all halftimes, special concessions, the opportunity to get your picture taken with Wayne the Warrior, and more! Don’t miss this great event! Also, be sure to mark your calendars for ALL of the home basketball games during this week to support ICS athletics:
- Monday, February 10 JV Girls @ 4:00 p.m. and JV Boys @ 5:00 p.m.
- Tuesday, February 11 5th/6th Grade Girls @ 3:45 p.m. and 5th/6th Grade Boys @ 5:45 p.m.
ALL: Immanuel Christian School Fundraising Day @ Springfield Chick-fil-A on February 11
Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Springfield Chick-fil-A during Homecoming Week on Tuesday, February 11 from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m. and support ICS! The address is 6681A Backlick Rd, Springfield, VA 22150 and please remember to mention “ICS fundraiser” when you place your order! Thank you for supporting ICS!
ALL: Pasta Palooza Family Dinner Night Hosted by PSO: Friday, February 28
Bring along your appetite to the Pasta Palooza spaghetti fellowship dinner sponsored by the ICS PSO (Parent Service Organization) on Friday, February 28. This is a great opportunity to spend the evening eating delicious food while visiting with friends. RSVP here. Tickets are $5. Watch for ParentSquare post if you would like to volunteer during the event. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Check in with our hosts in the kindergarten hallway. Dinner is served at 6:15 p.m. and Bingo and prizes start at 7:00 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your cash to purchase dessert and coffee to support the 8th grade class. Hurry to RSVP and get your tickets…this event sold out last year!
K-8: Math Olympics
In planning for the ACSI Math Olympics, math teachers will be preparing students beginning the week of January 27. All students will have the opportunity to qualify for this event. Practice questions will be reviewed and sample tests will be given to see who may compete. There will be 6 students per grade level (3 in Computation and 3 in Reasoning) plus alternates. Individual teachers will let students know when they will be administering these tests. This is a great opportunity to let our mathletes shine!
If your child is enrolled in Extended Care it will start at noon that day. If you are not already enrolled in Extended Care, but you need coverage beginning at noon, please contact Allison Masson, Director of Extended Care at email@example.com.
K-8: Immanuel’s Got Talent is coming soon! Student Information Meeting: March 3
It’s time for the 9th Annual ICS Talent Show…Immanuel’s Got Talent! We are excited to see what new talent this year brings! We are looking for a variety of acts from 5th through 8th grade students to be showcased during an all-school assembly on Thursday, April 30th at 1:30 p.m. in the Worship Center. Acts may be individual or group and should be no longer than 4 minutes in length. 5th through 8th grade students interested in auditioning need to attend a mandatory information meeting on Tuesday, March 3 during lunch/recess. Auditions will be in April. If you have any questions, please contact Lauren Gessner.

Women’s Spring Conference – March 20-21, 2020 @ Immanuel Bible Church
Early bird registration is open NOW for the IBC Women’s Spring Conference! Cindy Easley and her daughter, Hanna Seymour will speak on Living Transformed in a Broken Culture. They will be teaching from Romans 12 on how to think clearly, love authentically, and engage peacefully with others. Register now during early bird to not only receive a discount but be entered for one of three fabulous giveaways. Registration is available on the website, at the Women’s Ministry table in the Atrium, and in the bookstore. Early bird registration ends February 10.
Women’s Coffeehouse – Friday, January 31, 7:00 p.m. in the Atrium
Women’s Ministry at IBC invites you to join us for our annual Coffeehouse. This is an evening we look forward to each winter as we turn the Atrium into a warm and inviting Coffeehouse with gourmet desserts, a delicious coffee bar, and sweet fellowship. This year it will also feature Sugar Shack donuts and a concert by Jessa Anderson, a beautiful singer and songwriter from Nashville. Registration is open! Tickets are only $5 each so this is the perfect opportunity to invite a friend to hear the hope of the gospel. You can purchase tickets online, in the Bookstore, or stop by the Women’s Ministry table in the Atrium on Sunday morning.
