Please pray for the families of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, FL and the whole community of Parkland affected by the horrific high school shooting on February 14.

  • We pray that each person will find comfort and peace through our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We pray that God will provide powerful comfort to those who have lost loved ones. May He give healing in their minds and emotions from all the fear and terror of this tragic event.
  • Father God, show them Your mercies each day and carry them through the tomorrows of uncertainty. In Christ’s name, we pray.

High School Prayer Initiative – Join us in thanking God and praying for:

  • HIS PROVIDENCE in moving our school leadership continuously toward the establishment of Immanuel Christian High School.
  • ORGANIZATIONS & CONSULTANTS who are assisting us in the formation of ICHS.
  • THE PLANNING PROCESS that God would provide wisdom and stamina for the High School Planning Committee, for weekly meetings and essential decisions that must be made.

Admissions – Friday, March 2 is our next First Look Friday Open House.  Please pray that God will bring families to ICS whose children will benefit from what we offer at ICS.

CIA Projects – Pray for each class as they continue their projects in the community and with our partner public schools.  Please pray that students would develop true hearts for service through our Character in Action ministries.  Please pray for new opportunities to Skype with our sister school in Romania, for smooth technical connections and good communications between classes.

Basketball Season – Pray for the four basketball teams and for Travis Briggs, our Athletic Director, as they finish up this season. Upcoming playoffs and tournaments will continue until the end of February. May the student players learn important lessons of teamwork and good sportsmanship while they have fun competing with other schools.

Parents in Prayer – Please join us on Tuesday mornings at 8:30 a.m. after morning drop-off.
You are invited to join other parents every Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. to pray for our students, our teachers and staff.  This is a vital ministry that benefits all of us at ICS.  Parents meet in B201 at the end of the 8th grade hallway.  Your child’s class and teachers will be prayed for specifically during the year.  You are welcome to drop in when you can and especially when your child’s class is being featured!

Topics and Scriptures which our Parents in Prayer group will focus on for February 20 & 27, and March 6.

February 20 –  God guards

Scripture:  Psalm 91:11: Psalm 97:10; Isaiah 52:12
To pray for our own children:  I pray that ________ would not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present his/her requests to You, O God. And your peace, which transcends all understanding will guard ________’s heart and mind in You, Christ Jesus.    From Philippians 4:6-7

February 27  God is our guide

Scripture: Nehemiah 9:19; Psalm 23:1-3
To pray for our own children:  Lord, guide ________ in what is right and teach him/her Your way.  From Psalm 25:9

March 6 – God heals

Scripture: Psalm 30:2; Psalm 103:1-5; Isaiah 53:5
To pray for our own children: Lord, please heal ________ when he/she is brokenhearted and bind up his/her wounds.  From Psalm 147:3

Please pray especially for these administrators and their requests:

Pray for safety for our students, and wisdom and discernment for us as we assess students in the clinic. Please pray for protection from flu in the school during the winter flu season, and wisdom to balance work/home life.

Mrs. Lola Hollenbeck, Lunchroom Supervisor
Pray for continued wisdom in helping the students to use self-control in the lunchroom & show grace to one another.
Pray for needed additional parent volunteers for the remainder of the school year.

Mr. Art Merkel, Recess Supervisor
Pray for the health and safety of all the students during outside recess time.  Please pray for parent volunteers to join in the recess fun during the 1st-4th grade recess time from 11:45 a.m. – 12:30 p.m..

Projects/Skills:  Arctic animal study and non-fiction unit: Students are writing their very own non-fiction book about an arctic animal of their choice to read at our upcoming Arctic publishing party!
Prayer Requests: Please pray for good health and continued focus during the remainder of the school year. Pray for the 1B students to continue to learn responsibility as we finish out the year strong.

7B – Jon Duncan, Teacher

Character Traits:  Kindness and responsibility
Class Verse: “Whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything is worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.”  Philippians 4:8

Projects/Skills:  Students are learning about the Constitution and American Government in History.  In Bible, they are finishing a study of the life of Christ and working to memorize Romans 8:28-39.  In English they are learning how to write a research paper.  An upcoming Science field trip to Kentucky is scheduled for the spring.

Prayer Requests:  Pray that the students will continue to grow in handing the responsibilities of being a 7th grader (i.e., taking more independent responsibility for their work, keeping the hallway clean, etc.).  Also, pray that the students will continue to grow in the way they treat their classmates, with grace and kindness.

Elementary Science – Mrs. Bethany Tinev

Character Traits:  Respect
Class Verse:  Psalm 19:1
Projects/Skills:  Simple Machines, Astronomy, Animal Classification, and Color & Light
Prayer Requests:

  • Please pray for the science classroom as we explore God’s creation and beauty. Pray that the students would see the character of God through His creation!
  • Please pray for the students to be engaged and excited about science as we explore many hands-on activities.
  • Pray for the students as we learn more about being respectful of teachers, fellow students and God’s creation.
  • Pray for the 6th grade Star Party on Friday, February 23rd that the weather would be nice and the sky clear!
  • Pray for the 6th grade students as they are wrapping up their Science Fair projects for the Science Fair in March.
