All School Christmas Program and Grandparents' Day: Friday, December 15
Family and friends are invited to join our K-8 students for the Christmas program on December 15 at 8:45 a.m. in the Worship Center. Grandparents will be recognized during the assembly! Please take note of important details below:
- Worship Center doors open at 8:15 a.m.
- After the program, grandparents and guests are invited to the Atrium for coffee and music by our instrumental music students and then a visit to their grandchildren’s classroom(s).
- New this year: No RSVP necessary.
- Questions? Below are some of the commonly asked questions and answers.
May parents and siblings attend the Christmas program? Yes! Everyone is invited.
Are parents able to visit the classrooms with the grandparents? We request that only grandparents or special guests visit the classrooms because space is limited. If grandparents need special assistance, please contact Kim Akers in the school office to let her know that a parent will be accompanying the guest.
Do my guests need to RSVP? No, just come!
May I help? Certainly! Lots of help needed. Please sign up here.
Student Attire for ICS Christmas Program
Here are some details regarding what students will wear during our Christmas program on December 15:
- Students in Grades K and 7-8: Wear Christmas dress-up clothing (Please, no jeans or t-shirts).
- Students in Grades 1-5: Wear solid red shirts (no print) with black bottoms.
- Students in Grade 6: Wear a white top and black bottoms and other costumes previously discussed).

Alumni Donut and Hot Chocolate Bar on Grandparents’ Day, December 15
Christmas is just around the corner and is a great time to reconnect with former ICS classmates! We host grandparents on our last school day before Christmas vacation with an all-school Christmas program. This year, we are also extending an invitation for alumni to join us! Relive your youth by reserving a seat for the Christmas program beginning at 8:45 a.m. on December 15 and plan to stay to create your own masterpiece at our donut and hot chocolate bar from 10:00 -11:30 a.m. Enjoy delicious food while you catch up with former classmates. RSVP now. Come for the Christmas program or just the food and fellowship…or attend both! We look forward to seeing you on December 15!

Academic Honor Roll for 1st Quarter
Congratulations to those students who made the Academic Honor Roll for Middle School (grades 5-8) the 1st quarter. To qualify for 1st Honors, a student must have an academic average of 95% and above and satisfactory citizenship. For 2nd Honors, students must have an academic average of 90-94% and satisfactory citizenship. Click to view a list of students who made the Honor Roll.
ICS Christmas Ornaments available for purchase
Purchase your ICS Christmas ornament today! For $20 you can pick one up at Reception or the Main Office. The 8th grade class will also be selling ornaments during Grandparents’ Day. This is a great keepsake ornament for family, students and alumni. All profits benefit the 8th grade class.
Celebration Books for Grandparents
Honor your grandparents in a unique and lasting way. Consider adopting a Celebration Book in their name for Grandparents’ Day. A personalized bookplate honoring your grandparent(s) will be affixed inside your chosen book and presented to them on Grandparents’ Day. Come see the librarian for requested titles available in the library. Enjoy the book over Christmas then return it in January as a part of our permanent ICS collection. Remember, celebration books are a tax-deductible gift.
Lost and Found – December 12-14
Lost and Found items will be on display in the breezeway December 12-14. Items not claimed will be donated on December 15.
First Look Friday Preview Admissions Days: December 8 & January 5
Help us spread the word about Immanuel Christian School by inviting friends, co-workers and neighbors to visit ICS for a tour! They will have the chance to hear from the ICS leadership, view the facility and see teachers and students in action and to meet current staff and parents. Winter After School Clubs
Please visit this link to read ALL about our awesome After School Clubs which begin after the Christmas holiday. Several exciting new options include two theater productions taught by Encore Stage & Studio for elementary students, a STEM 3D Printing Club and the ever-popular Elementary Choir Club with Mrs. Wade is back! Other clubs include Lego Club, Martial Arts, Cheer, Chess and Intro to Computer Science. Any questions about registration or course content should be directed to Allison Masson. Technology Brought From Home
We have updated our guidelines for ICS students and personal technology while on the ICS campus. Below is the paragraph from the Parent-Student handbook. The underlined sections are the new additions. Thank you for your support.
Use of tablet technology (including cell phones, electronic readers, tablets, smart watches or devices with internet capabilities) is a privilege, optional, and acceptable only under teacher supervision for students in Grades 3-8 for the purpose of accessing appropriate reading material. Cell phones are not to be used in school except for communication in a situation deemed as emergency by teacher or administration. All readers or tablet devices must be used for reading purposes (no games) and are managed and monitored by the classroom teacher. Students may not wear devices that have the capacity to connect to the internet. (These must be in a backpack along with cellphones) Fitbits and other devices that are text message capable may be worn but may not be used to send/receive text messages while at school. ICS is not responsible for any loss of or damage to these devices. Use of these devices is considered a privilege which may be revoked at any time by the supervising teacher or administration.
Siblings of current students: APPLY NOW for the 2018-2019 school year!
If you are planning for another one of your children to come to ICS for the 2018-2019 school year, now is the time to apply! Applications are steadily coming in and spaces are limited. Second Tuition Payment for the 2017-18 School Year
If you are paying tuition on the semi-annual plan, the 2nd payment is due January 15. FACTS withdrawals will be made on that date. If you have any questions, contact Mandy Croushore, Finance Director.
Parent Service Hours due January 15
Parent Service Hours for the first semester are due January 15. Please record your Parent Service Hours on Parents Square. Please click here to see the new instructions to record your Parent Service Hours as Parent Service Hours are now recorded on ParentSquare, not on ParentsWeb. Wednesday Fun Lunch: 2nd Semester Orders due by Friday, January 19
We serve Fun Lunch on Wednesdays during the school year: Subway, Malek’s Pasta, Papa John’s Pizza, and Chick-fil-A are delivered on a rotating basis. You have the flexibility to choose any or all meals, a semester at a time (NO weekly ordering). The second semester of meals must be pre-ordered online and paid for by January 19. Clinic Announcement: Goodbye Mrs. Van Horn – Welcome Mrs. Brennan
Mrs. Andrea Van Horn and her family are moving to Florida in January! Please join us as we say THANK YOU for her professional and loving care of our sick students in the clinic these past two years. Prayers for a smooth transition while settling into their new home and school community would be greatly appreciated. Also, we are excited to announce that Mrs. Liz Brennan, registered nurse and ICS parent, will be joining our nursing staff in January! We are thankful to be able to transition from one fabulous nurse to another!

- If you are looking for “Favorites” filled out by teachers, go to Photos/Files on your phone or computer and you will see all the documents posted for each teacher. Select “View All”. You can also view them by going to Links and click on Personal Favorites.
- The list of files on the main screen are only the most recent.
- Click the “View All” button at the top to see all documents or photos.
- All posted files will be found in the files tab on the left side of the computer screen or in the photo tab on your phone app. When you click on Photos, there will also be a “Files” tab.
Pasta Palooza Family Dinner Night Sponsored by PTF – Friday, January 19
Break out your favorite board games and bring along your appetite to the Pasta Palooza spaghetti fellowship dinner and game night sponsored by the ICS PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship) on Friday, January 19. This fellowship night is a great opportunity to spend the evening eating delicious food while visiting with friends as you play board games with other ICS families. Click here for more details. Doors open at 6 p.m. Check in with our hosts in the kindergarten hallway. Dinner served at 6:15 p.m. and Bingo and prizes starts at 7 p.m. Don’t forget to bring your board games and cash to purchase dessert and coffee to support the 8th grade class. Lunch and Recess Help Needed
Parent volunteers are needed to help in the lunch room and at recess from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. daily (K-4: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and grades 5-8: 12:45 – 1:30 p.m.). While you help, you can eat lunch with your child, see them interact at recess and get to know fellow parents and your child’s classmates. We are in need of regular volunteers to help one day a week or every other week. To help with lunch, contact Lola Hollenbeck, Lunchroom Coordinator and to help with recess contact Art Merkel, Recess Supervisor. Please sign up on ParentSquare.
Varsity Girls Lacrosse (spring) Coach Needed
The commitment is a maximum 3 days a week for 2 hours (no weekends or holidays). This is a great way to get involved in the ICS family and show our students how to honor God in all areas of life.

In the midst of a hustling and bustling Christmas season, it can be difficult to keep our focus on the Reason for the Season! Join us Wednesday, December 13 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in Room A207 for our next meeting. Advent is not just about acknowledging Jesus … but ADORING Him. Christmas is not about presents and decorations, but about WORSHIP! So, come … Let us ADORE our Christ as Deidre Johnson speaks to us about how to worship Christ personally AND how to form Christ-centered traditions for our families. Hope you will plan to join us! Even if you’ve never been to one of our meetings before … it’s never too late to join!
