Spread the Word About ICS! Last Open House Tomorrow

If you have a friend who is interested in enrolling their children at ICS for the 2016-2017 school year, now is the time to apply! Employment Openings for 2016-2017

We are accepting applications for the following positions: Part-time Financial Assistant, RN/BSN to share part-time position in the School Clinic (11 hours per week), Lunchroom Supervisor (part-time), Instrumental Band & Percussion (part time) and Strings Instructor (part-time). Parent Service Hours due May 16

Please record your Parent Service Hours before May 16.  To do so, log into ParentsWeb, click on Family Information and then your name tab. Click on Service Hours, then “ADD” on the first line for the current school year. Select your service description, enter the hours, note the task and the contact person (in “Verified By”) for whom you worked.  Families should serve 20 hours total. Parents who enrolled their children after September can pro-rate their required hours at the rate of 2 hours per month.  Single parents serve half the number of required hours.  Parents who have not turned in their hours by the end of the school year will be billed $15/hour for the unserved hours.  Please contact Sharon Dotson if you have any questions.  Opportunities to serve on Sports Day, June 9, are available below.

100 Verse Recitation: Submit to teacher by tomorrow

There is an opportunity at the end of the 4th quarter for students who wish to quote additional verses to total 100 verses for the year. A special Bible, which the student selects, is awarded at the graduation ceremony for this achievement. Please note that all additional verses must be printed and submitted to their Bible teacher by May 13. All students who want to recite 100 verses must recite them by Monday, June 6.  Please contact your student’s Bible teacher for specific details.

2016-2017 School Supply Online Ordering – Flyers coming home this week!

ICS’s partnership with Cornerstone Office Solutions will continue to provide parents and students with an easy-to-order supply kit for next school year.  Each kit includes the required supplies for every grade level.  Just place the order online and  the kits will be delivered to your child’s classroom in time for the ICS Meet & Greet in August – no need to store supply kits at home over the summer.  Best of all, a portion of the purchase price will go to ICS! ! Spring Orchestra Assembly - Tomorrow

The Spring Orchestra Concert will be tomorrow, Friday, May 13 from 8:45 – 9:15 a.m. in the Worship Center.  Come learn about the “Language of Music” with our school orchestra and music classes.  Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade music classes will be playing in recorder ensembles with the orchestra.

Get the Inside Story: Meet the Leadership – May 17

You’re invited to meet the Leadership Team of Immanuel Christian School and hear the “Inside Story” of what sets us apart.  Whether you are already enrolled for next year or are still considering ICS for your child’s educational future, this open house event will give you an opportunity to hear from the Head of School, meet members of the School Baord and interact with other school leaders to have your questions answered.  Invite your friends and neighbors.

Sports Awards Night: Thursday, May 19

The Sports Awards Program for the soccer, basketball, softball, lacrosse and cross country seasons will be Thursday, May 19 from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the ICS gym.  We look forward to seeing you there as our athletes are recognized for participating in our sports program.  There will be a dessert fellowship following the presentation of awards.  Those with last names beginning with A-M please bring fruit and N-Z bring dessert.  Dress is nice jeans (or better) and no t-shirts, please.

ICS Fundraisers: Chipotle and Chick-Fil-A

  • 8th Grade Chipotle Fundraiser: Tuesday, May 17

Support the 8th grade class by getting your dinner at Chipotle on May 17 between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. Bring or show the flyer or tell the cashier you are supporting Immanuel Christian School. 50% of the proceeds go to the school for this project.

Return Library Books by May 19

It’s that time again! All ICS library books not related to class assignments need to be returned.  All library books must be returned by Friday, May 19 to avoid incurring a fine.  Lists of overdue items will be sent to parents and posted in all classrooms as a reminder to students. Failure to return books will result in a fine for the replacement cost of the book plus a $5.00 processing fee per title. Questions? Contact library staff.

Retirement Tributes Needed for Mrs. Beall and Mrs. Marsh: Deadline June 1

ICS Two-Day Book Fair Coming in Two Weeks – May 25 & 26

Come enjoy a time to “Paws to Read” at the ICS Book Fair May 25-26.  Look for the Teacher Wish List display and gift the book your teacher really wants.  Your patronage is appreciated as 25% of all sales support the Immanuel Christian School Library.  The Book Fair will be held in the school library from 8:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. both days.

Uniform Exchange Coming Soon: May 25-27

The Uniform Exchange will take place the week of Monday, May 23 in the breezeway.  Used clothing in excellent condition may be brought in. ONLY Lands’ End uniform items will be offered for the Exchange, with the following exception:  plaid kilts and jumpers from Flynn & O’Hara.

  • Uniform drop off: Monday and Tuesday:  May 23 & 24
  • Uniform Exchange: Wednesday – Friday:  May 25-27

Volunteers are needed to help with the Exchange.  Please contact Mary Sue Smith if you are interested.

Lost and Found on display May 24-26

Please stop by the display tables in the Breezeway to check for items your student may have lost.  Items that have a name in them will be returned to their owner.  All items not claimed by May 26 will be donated to Immanuel’s Hope Ministry.

Annual Faculty vs. Student Softball Game – May 25 at 3:45 p.m.

The Faculty vs. Student  Softball Game will be Wednesday, May 25 at 3:45 p.m.!  Parents and students are welcome to come out and watch the ICS faculty take on the ICS girls’ and boys’ softball teams

Next Year Spring Break trip to the Grand Canyon for 7th & 8th graders - Informational Meeting, May 18

Attention parents of all current 6th & 7th graders!  The informational meeting for the optional 7th and 8th grade spring break trip next year (April 10-14, 2017) to the Grand Canyon and Zion National Park is Wednesday, May 18th at 7:00 p.m. in the Terrace Room.  Come hear all about this exciting trip to supplement our Science curriculum at ICS!

ICS Alumni are invited back to campus to join us for lunch starting at 11:45 a.m. and then compete in the annual Alumni vs. the winner of the 8th Grade vs. Faculty volleyball game on Sports Day, June 9. Please RSVP here.

Sports Day is June 9 – Parent Help Needed

Sports Day is coming!  This is one of the students’ favorite days of the school year!  It takes many volunteers to pull together this day of fun, camaraderie and fitness for our students.  We need your help to make this day special.

  • Helpers Needed:  To volunteer for activities and/or lunch please click here for grades 3-8.  Grades 1 & 2 parents, please click here.
  • Grades 1 & 2 will enjoy activities coordinated by Cindy Wade, while grades 3-8 will continue the usual Sports Day activities with Lisa Fisher.
  • Students and teachers will wear their Serve-A-Thon t-shirts from the fall.
  • A hot dog lunch will be served to students, volunteers, siblings, alumni and teachers. Volunteers may use this time for Parent Service Hours.
  • Faculty vs 8th grade volleyball game will be in the gym at 1:30 p.m.

Lunch and Recess Help Needed

Parent volunteers are needed to help in the lunch room and at recess from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. daily (K-4: 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and grades 5-8: 12:45-1:30 p.m.). While you help, you can eat lunch with your child, see them interact at recess and get to know fellow parents and your child’s classmates. We are in need of regular volunteers to help one day a week or every other week. Your help gives our teachers a little break in the middle of their day to enjoy their lunch. To help with lunch, contact Daniel Padilla, Lunchroom Coordinator and to help with recess contact Julie Neville, Recess Supervisor.

Sign up for ICS Basketball Camp Today – Price Increases tomorrow, May 13!

ICS basketball camp will be Monday – Friday, June 20-24.  Camp will be held in the ICS Gym from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Camp is limited to both boys and girls entering 4th – 9th grades.  Click here to register.

COST: $200.00 if registered by May 13nd, $225 after that date.  Two or more campers per family:   $175.00 for each additional camper.  A non-refundable $50.00 deposit is due at time of registration and the balance is due the first day of camp.  Campers will need to bring a lunch each day.

Looking for an opportunity to keep up with your reading and math skills?  The following people will be tutoring this summer in many different subjects.  You may contact the tutor by calling or emailing him/her directly.  Tutors are listed by experience.

Vacation Bible School at IBC: June 27-July 1

Mark your calendars for June 27 – July 1 for the week of Vacation Bible School.

  • AM Program – 9:30 a.m. – Noon (4 years old by 9/30/16 – entering 3rdgrade)
  • PM Program – 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (entering 4th– entering 6th grades)

FCA Summer Camps

Thanks to scholarships available, FCA Leadership Camp is available for $65 (normally a $200+ value).  This camp is for 6-12 graders, and adult coaches, who want to sharpen their Leadership skills in a Christian environment.  There are 2 ways for students to sign up.  One as Huddle Leaders, meaning they want to lead an FCA student group “huddle” on their campus, or as Team Captains, meaning they want to be a better leader on their sports team.  To get the $65 price please sign up by May 20th!  Please click here to check out our summer camps!
