Tickets for the Fiesta: Deadline to buy tickets is tomorrow
Don’t forget to purchase tickets to the ICS Fiesta on Friday, May 5, 2017! Our gala sold out last year. It was a lot of fun and we want to celebrate Immanuel with you! Please go to this link for ticket sales.
Bidding for the auction begins at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4th!
In order to bid on items in our Silent Auction at Fiesta please download the FREE app (Handbid) from the Apple iTunes App Store or the Google Play store onto your smart phone and create an account. After you download the app, search for “ICS Fiesta” and then you can browse our amazing auction items and even begin bidding on items starting at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 4. You can bid on items in the Silent Auction even if you do not attend the auction. Don’t miss out on bidding on some great experiences for your child to enjoy with a teacher such as:

Faculty Updates for the 2017-2018 school year
Each year, we say farewell to faculty members. Some are moving, others are new mothers, and several are retiring or taking a leave of absence.
- We want to thank the following employees for their years of faithful service to students, parents, co-workers and above all, the Lord: Donna Bradley, Sarah Caley, Jerylen Daniels, Angel Fortier, Ingrid Gleason, Esther Hyun, Madison Kinney, Julie Pannell, Sarah Pinkley, Sharon Adams, and Amber Seat.
- The following people are changing positions: Julie Neville will be moving from 2A TA/Recess Supervisor to Receptionist. Sandy Potter will be moving from 2A teacher to Lower School Classroom Resource Teacher.
- Currently, we are busy interviewing and making decisions about new candidates for these openings and look forward to welcoming another group of highly qualified, spiritually mature men and women the Lord will add to the ICS faculty.

Serve-A-Thon/Sports Day T-shirt Reorder Opportunity – Deadline: May 4
Sports Day is quickly approaching! We would like to make sure each student has this year’s Serve-A-Thon t-shirt to wear for Sports Day. If your child’s shirt is lost or outgrown, there is time to order one via ParentsWeb .

- Please send $10 for the replacement t-shirt to your child’s homeroom teacher once you have completed the order on ParentsWeb.
If your child entered ICS after Serve-A-Thon in October please contact your child’s teacher to confirm your child received a t-shirt.
Capital Athletic Conference Track Meet: Tuesday, May 2
The annual Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) track meet will be held again this year at Langley School on Tuesday, May 12. We need lots of parent volunteers to be timers, ribbon writers and to help get the kids to the right events. No training is required and you will receive Parent Service Hours for volunteering. We will depart ICS at 11:00 a.m. and be at Langley School from noon to approximately 5:30 p.m. You may volunteer for the day or any amount of time that you are available. Please contact Travis Briggs, our Athletic Director, as soon as possible to sign up. It is a premier event for the CAC and is lots of fun for both the kids and adult volunteers.
ICS Chipotle Fundraiser: May 9
Support our 8th grade class by getting your dinner at Chipotle at Springfield Plaza on Tuesday, May 9 between 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. Show the flyer or tell the cashier you are supporting Immanuel Christian School. 50% of the proceeds go to the school for this project. Click here for the flyer.
Parent Service Hours Due May 15
Please record your Parent Service Hours before May 15. To do so, log into ParentsWeb, click on Family Information and then your name tab. Click on Service Hours, then “ADD” on the first line for the current school year. Select your service description, enter the hours, note the task and the contact person (in “Verified By”) for whom you worked. Families should serve 20 hours total. Parents who enrolled their children after September should pro-rate their required hours at the rate of 2 hours per month. Single parents serve half the number of required hours. Parents who have not turned in their hours by the end of the school year will be billed for the unserved hours. Please contact Becky Klapmust if you have any questions.

Academic Honor Roll for 3rd Quarter
Congratulations to those students who made the Academic Honor Roll for Upper School (grades 5-8) the 3rd quarter. To qualify for 1st Honors, a student must have an academic average of 95% and above and satisfactory citizenship. For 2nd Honors, students must have an academic average of 90-94% and satisfactory citizenship. Click here to view a list of students who made the Honor Roll.
Spring Orchestra Assembly : Friday, May 12
The Spring Orchestra Concert will be Friday, May 12 from 8:45 – 9:30 a.m. in the Worship Center. Come learn about the “Language of Music” with our school orchestra and music classes.
Sports Awards Night: Thursday, May 18
The Sports Awards Program for the soccer, basketball, softball, lacrosse and cross country seasons will be Thursday, May 18 from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m. in the ICS gym. We look forward to seeing you there as our athletes are recognized for participating in our sports program. There will be a dessert fellowship following the presentation of awards. Those with last names beginning with A-M please bring fruit and N-Z bring dessert. Dress is nice jeans (or better) and no t-shirts, please.
Return Library Books by May 19
It’s that time again! All ICS library books not related to class assignments need to be returned. All library books must be returned by Friday, May 19 to avoid incurring a fine. Lists of overdue items will be sent to parents and posted in all classrooms as a reminder to students. Failure to return books will result in a fine for the replacement cost of the book plus a $5.00 processing fee per title. Unpaid fines will result in report cards being withheld. Questions? 100 Verse Recitation
There is an opportunity at the end of the 4th quarter for students who wish to quote additional verses to total 100 verses for the year. A special Bible, which the student selects, is awarded for this achievement. Your student’s Bible teacher sent home information to the student about the 100 verses recitation. Please note that all additional verses must be printed and submitted to the Bible teacher by May 12. All students who want to recite 100 verses must complete them by June 5 for all grades. Please contact your student’s Bible teacher for additional information.
Annual Faculty vs. Student Softball Game: May 24 at 3:45 p.m.
Faculty vs. Student Softball Game will be Wednesday, May 24 at 3:45 p.m.! Parents and students are welcome to come out and watch the ICS faculty take on the ICS girls’ and boys’ softball teams.
Sports Day is June 8
Volunteers are needed for the day for events and to help with the hot dog lunch! Watch for details.
Bonus Verse Wristband Replacements – Now Only $1.00
There is one free wristband for every ICS student who memorizes and recites a Bonus Verse to Mr. Danish. After the initial free wristband, lost or broken wristbands can be replaced for $1 at the school office. Students needing a wristband replacement should bring exact change to the office and must be able to recite the verse in order to purchase a replacement.
Job Openings for 2017-2018
ICS is now accepting applications for Lower School Teachers, Upper School Teachers, Recess Supervisor (part time), Speech Therapist (part time) and Art Teacher (part time). ICS Basketball Camp: June 19-23
Mark your calendars! ICS will again host its annual ‘funtastic’ basketball camp from Monday – Friday, June 19-23. Camp will be held in the ICS Gym from 8:30 a.m.– 3:00 p.m. Basketball camp is for both boys and girls entering 4th – 9th grades. Click here for registration form.
Next MOPS Meeting – May 8
Happy Spring, MOPS moms! MOPS is open to all moms who are pregnant through Kindergarten. We would love to have you at our last meeting on Monday, May 8th, 7:00 -9:00 p.m. in room A207. We will have picnic-themed food for dinner along with dessert afterwards! Our speaker Penny Wood will be summarizing the year’s theme with the topic of “What Does ‘Starry-Eyed’ Mean?” Please invite your mom friends– their first meeting is free!
