Homecoming and Spirit Week: Next Week, January 17-20
We are excited to have themed dress down days throughout this week. Students who choose not to participate in the dress down theme will wear their regular uniform. With the themed dress down days, dress code rules still apply.
- (No school Monday – MLK Day)
- Tuesday: Superhero Day – Aside from your regular superheroes, feel free to invent your own superhero with your own special abilities and costume! Or perhaps choose your favorite Bible hero! Be creative – we know we are a school full of superheroes!
- Wednesday: School Spirit Day – Show your ICS spirit by wearing school colors navy blue and yellow or your favorite ICS gear! Basketball players should wear their jerseys to school over a t-shirt. Make sure you plan to come to the Homecoming Basketball Games on Wednesday!
- Thursday: Hat Day – Wear your favorite hat or crazy hat to school! Your teacher may ask you to remove your hat during class, but if you wear a hat you may dress down as well. Also join ICS at Jersey Mike’s in Springfield for dinner for a special fundraising night (see below)!
- Friday: Jersey Day – Represent your team, whether it is football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, cricket or rugby! Any jersey for any team will work.
Homecoming Basketball Game: Wednesday, January 18
Come cheer on the ICS Varsity Basketball Teams as they take on Holy Spirit School. The girls’ game is first at 4:00 p.m. and the boys’ game will follow at 5:00 p.m. We will have games and giveaways during halftime, special concessions, the opportunity to get your picture taken with Wayne the Warrior and more! Don’t miss this great event!
ICS Fundraising Spirit Night @ Jersey Mike’s: Thursday, January 19
Join us at Jersey Mike’s in Springfield (7000B Brookfield Plaza) Thursday, January 19 between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. for our ICS Fundraising Night! Your child will receive this flyer on Thursday at the end of the day for you to take with you to Jersey Mike’s so ICS can receive 15% of all proceeds. This is a great way to enjoy a delicious meal as a family and support ICS. See you there!

Wednesday Fun Lunch: 2nd Semester Orders due by Friday, January 20
We serve Fun Lunch on Wednesdays during the school year: Subway, Malek’s Pasta, Papa John’s Pizza, and Chick-fil-A are delivered on a rotating basis. You have the flexibility to choose any or all meals, a semester at a time (NO weekly ordering). The second semester of meals must be pre-ordered online and paid for by January 20. Fiesta Planning Meeting for Parent Service Teams
Parent Service Teams (PST), please join us Wednesday, January 18 at 8:30 a.m. in the library to learn more about our upcoming Fiesta and how the PST will be involved. We will talk about Fiesta and more specifically about gift baskets that individual homerooms will assemble and donate to the Silent Auction. Fiesta Wish List
We are so excited about Fiesta 2017! Fiesta will include a Live Auction, Silent Auction, Teacher Experiences, student-created projects, Student Portraits and a Piñata “Pull”. To pull this off we’ve created a Wish List. Please consider contributing in some way. Proceeds from Fiesta go to the ICS Partnership Fund providing annual revenue to bridge the gap between tuition and education costs by supporting mission-critical expenses. Gifts of all amounts, both large and small, will continue to provide opportunity for our students to develop the academic skills and spiritual depth they need to make a difference in the world. Re-Enrollment Coming Soon
AUTOMATIC RE-ENROLLMENT for 2017-2018 will take place in February and deposits will be collected through FACTS in March. Watch for important details in the Re-Enrollment Packet coming home with your child in mid-February.

Second Tuition Payment for the 2016-2017 School Year
If you are paying tuition on the semi-annual plan, the 2nd payment will be due January 15. FACTS withdrawals will be made on that date. If you have any questions, contact Mandy Croushore, Finance Director.
Parent Service Hours
Parent Service Hours for the first semester are due January 16. Please record your Parent Service Hours on ParentsWeb. Log into ParentsWeb, click on Family Information, your name, and then the Service Hours tab. Select your service description and enter the hours, note what you did, and add the contact person in “verified by.” To enter hours served by another family member, just add it to one of the parent’s accounts. Attention Parents of Rising K-4th Graders: Save the Date for Just Around the Corner – Friday, February 10
All parents of rising kindergarten through 4th grade students are invited to attend the information session Just Around the Corner on Friday, February 10th from 8:30–10:00 a.m. in the Terrace Room. Don’t miss it! Attend this important event to visit with upcoming teachers, learn how to continue navigating your child’s education within a Christian framework and preview more specifically what is coming in your child’s next grade. PTF Pasta Palooza Family Night – February 24
Break out your favorite board games and bring along your appetite to the Pasta Palooza spaghetti fellowship dinner and game night sponsored by the ICS PTF (Parent Teacher Fellowship). Mark your calendars for Friday, February 24, 2017 because you don’t want to miss this fun evening featuring delicious food, games, ICS bingo with prizes, fellowship and music! This fellowship night is a great opportunity to spend the evening eating delicious food while visiting with friends as you play board games with other ICS families. Lost and Found
Lost and Found will be on display Tuesday – Thursday, January 31-February 2 in the breezeway. All items not claimed by February 2 will be donated to Immanuel’s Hope Ministry.
Note from Clinic
We are seeing a large number of students at school with fevers, sore throats and upset stomachs. If your child is complaining about any of the above symptoms, please be sure to take their temperature before coming to school. Students are not allowed to come to school if they have vomited or had diarrhea within the last 24 hours. They must also stay home if they have had a fever of 100 degrees (or higher) within the last 24 hours. Students may return to school after being fever-free for 24 hours without being on fever-reducing medication (Tylenol or Motrin). Thank you in advance for doing your part in keeping our kids from spreading illness.
Label Your Jackets, School Uniforms and PE Uniforms with your Student’s Name
Winter is here! The weather is colder and jackets and sweaters are being worn to school. Please label your items with your student’s name. Many school clothing items are left behind after PE and sports activities. Items with a name in them will be returned to the student.
We Collect Box Tops
Bring your Box Tops in a Ziploc bag labeled with your child(s) name and grade to Reception and make sure you check the dates on the Box Tops as expired dates will not be counted in the totals. Remember to sign up and support ICS here. Once you register, you will have access to coupons for box top products and have the opportunity to play fun games and earn eBox Tops for our school. ICS Used Book Sale May 31-June 1
The library is now accepting gently used donations of Children’s and Young Adult fiction, Adult fiction and all ages Non-Fiction for our Used Book Sale coming this Spring. The Used Book Sale dates are May 31-June 1 (Wednesday-Thursday) 8:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. in the school library (Room C202). Lunch and Recess Help Needed
Parent volunteers are needed to help in the lunch room and at recess from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. daily (K-4: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and grades 5-8: 12:45 – 1:30 p.m.). While you help, you can eat lunch with your child, see them interact at recess and get to know fellow parents and your child’s classmates. We are in need of regular volunteers to help one day a week or every other week. Your help gives our teachers a little break in the middle of their day to enjoy their lunch. To help with lunch, contact Lola Hollenbeck, Lunchroom Coordinator, and to help with recess, contact Julie Neville.
